Iseult Murphy

Writer, Actor, Artist

Bio

Iseult Murphy writes fantasy, horror and science fiction short stories and novels. She lives on the east coast of Ireland with her family, three dogs and two cats. So far this year her writing has appeared in multiple publications both online and in print, she has organised and launched the inaugural International Day of Books and is currently writing a blovel  (a novel posted on a blog) for the month of November.

Early Influences

She discovered her love of horror at a young age when she stayed up late to watch Vincent Price in the Wax Works. Terrified by Michael Jackson's video to Thriller, she has spent the last twenty years battling her fear of zombies by watching as many movies featuring them as possible and writing about them, hoping it will be a cathartic experience. Her love of fantasy was inspired by her sister reading The Hobbit to her at an equally early stage. Combined with her affection for animals, the books of Dick King Smith and Sylvester McCoy's Doctor Who, these various components joined to form the dark mind that is devoted to genre writing today.

Writing

Iseult started creating her fantasy world of Reath when she was seven, and now has over four thousand years of world building and stories under her belt concerning a diverse cast of characters. In her teens she won several writing competitions nationally and internationally, including (on multiple occassions) the RDS Young Science Writers Competition.

Acting

Iseult is also a keen actor and qualified speech and drama teacher. She has appeared in numerous stage productions as well as featuring in television programmes, film and commercials.
